Biography

From a young age, I was drawn to the teaching profession. Like many children, I would often play pretend as a teacher, with my stuffed animals as my students. One of my favorite hobbies is crocheting, and my first experience in teaching came in the fifth grade when I sat on the playground during recess, showing my friends how to crochet.

Though I was once certain about becoming a teacher, I encountered uncertainty when choosing a major at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). Like many students, I changed my major several times—ultimately settling on mathematics. My interest in education was rekindled when I stumbled across a job posting for an after-school middle school math program run by UCI’s math department. There I had opportunities to tutor the middle school students, which reminded me how much I enjoyed helping students learn. Watching them engage with the material and grow in confidence inspired me to pursue a career in education.

Now back in the the Bay Area, I’m excited to be helping even more students tackle and excel on their exams. My goal is to break down the exam into manageable chunks, empowering students to master each section and make the test less intimidating. Through one-on-one sessions, I can provide the necessary scaffolding to guide students through increasingly difficult questions.

I strive to create an environment where mistakes are seen as essential to learning, and by tailoring my approach to each student’s unique needs, I aim to build their confidence and equip them with the skills they need to achieve their desired SAT score and reach their dream schools.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing tennis, crocheting, and journaling.

Happy Parents and Students

"I definitely will do better on the SAT after AJ Tutoring. It helped me reach my maximum ability in understanding the SAT. Also, being able to take practice tests at the office was awesome to feel ready for the actual test. "
