Biography

I have fostered an immense love of both learning in general and physics in particular ever since I can remember. It was in high school that I started tutoring elementary school kids in order to share the joy of learning and discovery with them. My tutoring career continued into college and beyond and has become an enriching part of my life.

My high school years inculcated a deep love for physics, math, and history in me. From there, I went on to major in physics at UCLA while minoring in ancient near eastern studies, thus satisfying my love for both science and history. I worked as a teaching assistant for different physics courses while at UCLA, gaining valuable classroom experience along with honing my one on one tutoring skills. My lifelong passion for physics and math further distilled into a commitment to theoretical particle physics, and I finally got my masters degree in physics from Cal State LA, focusing on string theory for my thesis.

When I teach students physics, there is often a lightbulb moment for them that I treasure. It’s the same feeling I had when I first learnt Maxwell’s equations and how to derive the speed of light from them and the room seemed to literally get brighter. As long as I can help others experience that same rush that I am rewarded with every time I learn something new, I consider myself successful as a tutor.

The picture of how the world works at the most fundamental level all around us is transcribed elegantly in the language of mathematics, something I find to be one of the most beautiful things in the universe. I strive to help my students see that very same beauty by building a robust framework of the fundamentals and helping them view math as their guide around that framework. I find that the deeper their understanding of how things connect in physics, the more easily they can derive equations and solve niche applications of concepts, allowing them to excel.

When I’m not tutoring, I love reading fantasy and sci-fi, crafting, painting, traveling when possible, and playing with my dogs.
