Biography

My love for science and math started at a very young age when I would perform experiments like exploding volcanoes with baking soda and vinegar. In high school, I excelled at classes such as AP Biology and AP Chemistry, so at the age of 16, I decided to pursue a career in STEM.

As I pursued my undergraduate education at UC Santa Cruz, majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Biology, my passion for science and math grew. I got myself involved in
teaching roles from the very beginning because I wanted to share my love of these subjects with other students and help them excel. I started my teaching experience in a
high school biology classroom as an instructional aid. I also started tutoring courses such as chemistry, biology, and algebra.

As I pursued an advanced degree at UC Davis in Chemistry, my love for teaching grew. Each quarter, I had the opportunity to teach class sizes of 50+ students in chemistry and biology courses with a large range of topics. My years of experience in the classroom with students have strengthened my ability to explain challenging material in a way that is engaging and accessible. While at UC Davis, I also spent 6 years tutoring students one-on-one, so I have lots of experience with 1-on-1 formats and tailoring learning styles to individual students.

I have experience with both (1) taking and (2) teaching the subjects presented on difficult exams such as the AP Chemistry and AP Biology exams, as well as other exams such as the SAT and ACT. Through test preparation, I have the opportunity to teach students about the subject matter but also crucial test-taking strategies, time management skills, and methods for reducing test anxiety. Whether focusing on improving scores in specific sections or providing comprehensive prep, I am committed to helping students succeed on these exams.

I look forward to helping students reach their full potential and gain confidence in subjects such as chemistry, biology, and math, whether they are tackling basic concepts
or preparing for advanced exams. My tutoring approach centers on building a strong foundation in core concepts while tailoring each session to the individual student’s
needs. The 1-on-1 format of our sessions will help me assess student strengths, learning style, and areas for improvement, so I can adapt my explanations and pace to suit them best. I often use visual aids, real-world examples, and practice problems to reinforce difficult topics, making abstract concepts easier to understand. By creating a supportive, patient, and interactive environment, I aim to boost student confidence and mastery in science and math.

When I’m not teach math or science, you can find me in the kitchen. I love to cook and bake all sorts of new foods and recipes!
