Biography

After growing up in Monterey County, I graduated summa cum laude with a BA in history from San Jose State University. I spent two years tutoring writing, English, and History at SJSU while I obtained my master’s in history. I have a strong passion for U.S. history, but I enjoy a variety of fields. Besides history, I have a fondness for political science and literature.

My goal in tutoring is to help my students develop their comfort and confidence with approaching, understanding, and analyzing the material. My students often tell me I explain things more clearly than their teachers or professors, a skill I take pride in. One of my great joys comes when a student tells me they got a high grade on an assignment, essay, or class that they previously had struggled in. As a student of history and literature, I enjoy getting students to make connections between past events and realize that history encompasses more than names and dates. I also want my English students to appreciate the relevancy to their lives of the texts they read in English. I ultimately plan on getting my teaching credential and teaching social sciences at the high school level.

When I am not tutoring or driving, I spend my days reading or watching classic films, particularly sci-fi, comedy, or horror. Moreover, I have a fondness for rock music.
