Biography

Growing up in the Bay Area, I was a highly determined, and ambitious student. I attended Leigh High School – where I found a passion for tutoring like-minded individuals. My first-ever tutoring job began at Kumon, where I tutored individuals from Kindergarten to 8th grade in math and reading. I learned how to tailor personalized teaching methods for each of the individual students, and help them succeed in their personal goals. I realized the significant, positive impact 1-on-1 tutoring, and attending their needs can have on a student.

After I graduated from Leigh High School, I continued to pursue my education at the University of California, Santa Barbara. A proud graduate, I received a scholarship for the Young Innovators reward and was a Co-Author of a Fall 2023 Transfer Student Discovery Seminar. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and a minor in Professional Writing. With my educational background, I am quite well-rounded in a multitude of educational subjects.

Being able to identify my own tips to help my personal study skills, I was able to adopt studying methods to help guide my understanding on how to succeed. (My personal favorite is the Pomodoro Technique.) Utilizing my expertise I apply these methods at AJ Tutoring to assess the student’s skills, using the S.M.A.R.T. goals to ensure they meet their personal objectives. Throughout my time as a tutor it is I have watched to see many students’ confidence grow in their academic capabilities. Which–in my opinion–is the most rewarding aspect. I love to witness the students’ confidence grow.

With my exceptional strengths in academic skills in both math and English, my goal is to help students learn efficient test-taking strategies for the SAT, so they’re confident on test day and get the score they need for their top-choice college.

When I’m not tutoring I enjoy reading regency novels, studying U.S. history, and volunteering at the San Jose Community Fridge.
