Kennedy Barbic

Academic and Test Prep Tutor

Biography

I was born in Fremont, CA. I grew up in San Jose and Lodi, CA. Being from both a large city and agricultural town, I grew to respect people from all walks of life and am able to find common ground and understanding with others regardless of their background.

I attended University of California, Berkeley, for my undergraduate degree, double majored in astrophysics and music, and attained a clinical and counseling psychology minor. My love for astronomy began at six years old when watching space documentaries with my grandfather, such as Through the Wormhole and Cosmos. The vastness and unknown of the universe led me to develop a passion for math, physics, science, and any other field that carries unsolved mysteries within it.

Throughout my academic career, I noticed that my best teachers were the ones who could explain complex concepts in simple terms so that students could learn on a deeper level. As a result, that is my teaching philosophy. I have found that even students who struggle with a subject like math can find joy in doing their work after they gain an understanding through basic explanations.

I am a SAT prep and academic tutor in math and physics. I decided to train to become an SAT tutor because I know how important it is for students to perform well on standardized tests in order to get into their dream college. I was able to get into mine, and I want to help others get do the same. I love math and physics, and sparking that same enthusiasm in a student who finally understands a concept after struggling with it is an indescribable feeling that drives me to continue teaching.

Outside of tutoring, I play piano and produce music. I also love to hike, exercise, go on adventures with friends, and spend time with family.
