Biography

I’m a sucker for any academic subject. In college, I majored in mathematics and English, while also studying Arabic and traveling to France to learn about art and language. Luckily, I’ve never been able to limit my interests and have found amazing connections across them. I love all these subjects, but I’m especially grateful for my incredible math teachers and how far I’ve been able to go in the subject.

I did not like math in elementary school, even though I was good at it, and my seventh grade math teacher completely turned me around for the better. I’ve been a smart girl in STEM/English/French/art ever since– doing a math major for fun and writing poetry in my free time. However, I’ve always needed help.

At AJ Tutoring, I love helping students conquer the SAT, study math, write essays, and parler français. I want students to never feel defined by academic subjects– especially those they struggle with. All students are smart students, and the best students know how to ask questions and get help. I’m lucky to be that help for many students, but I also approach tutoring as a group project. Let’s work together on the questions to find the best way forward.

My senior year in college, I precepted (tutored) an introductory statistics course and absolutely loved it. I got to meet students from all different majors, school years, and backgrounds; I helped them all tackle what can be a daunting subject. I’ve continued to learn about different approaches to education by working in libraries, tutoring (of course!), and reading as many books as I can.

I learned to love hiking in Washington State, knitting in Minnesota, and reading, everywhere. Always excited to talk about gymnastics, Taylor Swift, and Game of Thrones.
