Biography

I was born in China, but I moved to the United States—to the wonderful and diverse Orange County, California, to be specific—shortly after turning two. Growing up in Orange County with its brilliant public school system, I was surrounded by an incredible environment of supportive teachers, parents, and peers. In the latter days of high school, I decided that I desired a change of pace and area and aspired to attend a university in Northern California. Fast forward half a decade, and I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a BS in computer science.

Throughout high school and college, I found myself frequently in a teaching and tutoring position. Whether it was helping middle school students with their homework and course material after school for a bit of pocket money or assisting fellow college students in Multivariable Calculus, Analysis of Algorithms, and other courses, I found both gratification and success in contributing towards others’ academic endeavors. These experiences led me to discovering and becoming a passionate and dedicated member of the AJ Tutoring team. From the experiences I’ve had and the results that I’ve seen, I believe that some key ingredients to success are a student who is willing to learn, tried and true methods such as the curriculum developed and used by AJ Tutoring, and a teacher who can communicate those methods clearly to the student and help them overcome any hurdles they may face. I enjoy helping all my students unlock and achieve their full test-taking and academic potential.

Beyond tutoring, I devote my efforts to freelance computer science projects and software engineering work, as well as some of my own inspirations. When my brain needs a break, I enjoy the simpler challenges of wrenching on my dirtbike as well as the lively and enjoyable hours of riding afterwards. I also have a ball of endless energy, a Siberian Husky, that takes me on amazing and endless hikes.

Happy parents and students
