Francheska Kovacevic

Academic Tutor

Biography

I’ve loved solving math problems since I was in elementary school. From a young age, I enjoyed finding new ways to solve problems and looking at the relationships between numbers and the world around me. In middle school one of my teachers took notice of my passion for math and helping others, and she recommended me as a peer tutor for mathematics. Since then I have found myself tutoring others in math in official and unofficial capacities.

During my time at Wellesley College I got to further my education, challenging myself in ways I had not thought possible. I got to do mathematics research through summer programs at SMU and MIT, and also got to study Mathematics abroad in Italy. I found myself lucky that I got to explore a subject I love so much in a wide range of capacities, different environments and languages.

After graduating, I found myself wanting to continue helping others in understanding mathematics, breaking it down into understandable pieces. Having learned first hand how important having a good teacher is in any subject, I feel fortunate to hear from my students that after working together problems make sense, and the math is “actually more fun, now that I get it”. The 1-on-1 environment at AJ is highly valuable in focusing attention and helping students to build confidence in their skills and abilities.
