Biography

My name is Daniel Pincus, and I am an SAT tutor and the Director of AJ Tutoring’s San Jose tutoring center. I am a passionate educator with over ten years of experience working with students from 18 months to 18 years of age! Originally from the midwest, I came to California after high school to continue my education in the most beautiful place in the world, and in 2008 I completed a degree in Neuroscience and Behavior at UC Santa Cruz. I started coaching gymnastics part-time during college and fell in love with seeing my students gain confidence and achieve their goals in the sport! For six years I was the head coach of a competitive gymnastics team based in Santa Cruz, criss-crossing the Western U.S. with my team of tumbling acrobats. As a part of the team at AJ Tutoring, I am able to combine my coaching experience with my background in science and math to help kids grow intellectually and to achieve their academic goals.

As a coach and as a tutor, I work hard every day to develop friendly and trusting relationships with my students and their families. I believe that trust and clear communication are essential for students to feel comfortable and be open to learning. Coaching also afforded me an eye for detail and an ability to give feedback in a positive and constructive manner. In my work, I have developed dynamic teaching techniques to accommodate different personalities and embraced the value of meeting each student on his or her own level. I have also spent many hours creating training plans unique to each student’s individual progress and style of learning.

My interests include health and fitness, current events and popular culture, movies, music, traveling, technology, and Warriors basketball.
