Daniel Farrell

Test Prep & Academic Tutor

Biography

I began tutoring while pursuing my mathematics degree at Saint Mary’s College of California, where I primarily tutored Algebra and Calculus. I soon found that I very much enjoyed sharing my love of math with students who were having trouble understanding key concepts, and had often wrongly convinced themselves that they were unable to do math. It was then that I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in one-on-one education.

In my experience, math students perform better when they understand why the problem works out the way it does, rather than merely knowing how to do the problem. In sessions, I strive to lead my students down the road to the correct answer, rather than giving them an algorithm that will thoughtlessly solve the problem every time. I find that students’ deep understanding of a concept will best cement their knowledge and hopefully foster further interest in math.

When I’m not tutoring, I like to unwind by hiking, playing ping pong, or gaming!

Happy parents and students.
