Biography

Driven by an endless font of curiosity, I have been interested in learning — and sharing — new and exciting things about the world from the time I was a child. My love for reading, writing, science, and music was a powerful motivating force for me to pursue an education in science and a career in healthcare.

Much like a tumbleweed, I bounced around the American Southwest during my youth and education. I was born and raised in SoCal, completed high school with honors in Texas. As a National Merit Scholar, I attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ on a full scholarship to complete my B.S. in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science. After graduation, I then returned to Los Angeles, CA to pursue my M.S. in Health Sciences at CSU Dominguez Hills and worked in allied health during the pandemic. Following my experience in medicine, my desire to be on the cutting edge of research pushed me towards a career in clinical research, where I led complex clinical trials with the department of Neurology at Stanford School of Medicine.

With the hope of pursuing my Ph.D., I have enrolled in some supplementary classes of my own — which has inspired my return to tutoring! I tutored throughout my college and graduate career, primarily in biology, chemistry, anatomy/physiology, writing, and test taking skills. My favorite thing about tutoring is helping students find the missing pieces in their understanding and seeing the lightbulb moment where things finally “click!” into place. I have a knack for big picture thinking and problem solving, which has helped me identify tricky points where students may be struggling and how to move around them in new or creative ways. I also have a personal passion for helping fellow students with ADHD learn how to work with, and not against, our unique way of learning, thinking, and managing tasks in a way that makes learning more accessible.

When not hitting the books, I enjoy taking it easy with my family and friends. You can usually find me painting, quilting, writing sci-fi/fantasy, or going on adventures with my dogs.
