Biography

As a first-generation college graduate, I understand firsthand the impact that mentorship and personalized guidance can have on a student’s success. Throughout high school, I was part of AVID, a program designed to support underrepresented students in their journey to college. Through AVID, I was fortunate to receive free SAT prep sessions provided by AJ Tutoring—a full-circle moment that makes joining the AJ team even more meaningful for me! This experience revealed to me the value of having a tutor or mentor, which ultimately inspired my passion for education and motivated me to help other students navigate their own academic journeys.

I earned my degree in biological sciences with a minor in Spanish from UC Irvine. While there, I was able to deepen my understanding of the sciences and gained a greater appreciation for my second language and its cultural significance. During college, I frequently helped my peers with organic chemistry and biology, and I found it incredibly rewarding to see them gain confidence in subjects they once struggled with. That passion for teaching stayed with me, and now, as a tutor, I strive to support students the way my mentors once supported me.

At AJ Tutoring, I specialize in biology, Spanish, and K-8 subjects, tailoring my approach to meet each student’s unique learning style. I believe that education is most effective when it’s interactive, engaging, and built on a foundation of confidence. I make use of real-world applications, guided problem-solving, and active learning techniques to help students not only understand the material but also develop critical thinking skills that will benefit them beyond the classroom.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy playing chess, cooking, and spending time in nature. I’m excited to bring my experiences and teaching philosophy to AJ Tutoring and to help students gain confidence, build skills, and, most importantly, reach their full potential!
