Course Description:

Do you have a story in your head that you’d love to bring to life? In this Visual Development course, students will create their own original story from start to finish, following the structure of the Hero’s Journey. Through professional pre-production techniques used in the animation, film, and gaming industries, students will not only develop a compelling narrative but also design the characters, environments, and props that bring their world to life.

Throughout the course, students will learn how to craft engaging character descriptions, explore environmental storytelling, and illustrate key story moments through storyboarding. They will also develop industry-standard pre-production materials, such as character turnarounds, concept art, and prop sheets, just like professional visual development artists do. By the end of the course, students will have a fully realized project portfolio, including a written synopsis, character designs, environments, and storyboards.

This course is perfect for students who love to create stories, draw characters, and build imaginative worlds. Whether they are aspiring animators, illustrators, or filmmakers, this hands-on experience will give them a solid foundation in visual storytelling and world-building while following the same creative process used by industry professionals.
