Course Description:

This enrichment course is designed to serve as a soft introduction to the structure and function of biological molecules, including carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. This course also provides a basic theoretical introduction to molecular biology and nucleic acid biochemistry. Topics covered will include: DNA isolation, gel electrophoresis, bacterial genetics, cloning, sequencing, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), mutagenesis, and protein expression, among others. This class can be adapted to suit beginning and intermediate Chemistry and Biology students.
