Biography

Coming from a family of educators, teaching and helping others has always been something I enjoyed. After graduating from Santa Clara University, I attended University of San Francisco and earned my teaching credential and master’s degree in education. My years of teaching, tutoring, and coaching, as well as a brief stint in the corporate world, have helped solidify my passion for helping students in my community.

During my classroom teaching career, I taught subjects including AP European History, World History, and AP Psychology. I’ve also coached swimming and water polo at the high school level for over a decade and I know how to bring the best out of students in high stakes settings. At AJ Tutoring, I specialize in developing students’ skills in their history and English courses and in preparing for the AP exams.

I was born and raised in the Bay Area and know exactly what it is like to be a student feeling the academic pressures and standards common in this part of the world. I was not lucky enough to have AJ Tutoring as a resource in my high school days, and I try to exemplify the “tutor I never had” when I work with each student. I do my best to get to know the students I tutor, understand their needs and learning style, and help them reach their goals, with a dash of fun along the way. No two students are alike and determining the best way to motivate and guide each one is a rewarding, worthwhile challenge.

When I’m not tutoring, you can find me pampering my cat, Emmy; getting lost in a binge-worthy TV show; or swimming laps with friends to stay in shape.
