Biography

Hi there! My name is Adrian Leven, a tutor, teacher, and graduate student. I’ve been passionate about education ever since the days when I took the SAT (back when it was out of 2400 points)! Hailing from the rural parts of the Central Valley, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of education, and the SAT in particular. Working with a practice program just like this one, I was able to score high enough to be accepted to Stanford University. While there, I studied computer science, but my favorite times at school were working as a TA to answer questions and solve homework problems.

After graduating, I accepted a role at Microsoft in their learning division, where my verve for teaching was reawaken. Our mission was to create free, easily accessible computer science courseware that could be accessed from anywhere in the world. Of the over 500,000 students that accessed my courses, several reached out to let me know of the transformative effects that learning new skills had on their lives. Hearing the stories of countless students and how their lives were changed for the better inspired me to pursue a career in education, with a focus in educational equity. While tutoring at AJ, I’m also completing a Master’s program in education at CSU East Bay.

My teaching style, backed by over ten years of working with students, emphasizes breaking down concepts to their atomic components while building a more robust understanding from base principles. Through this, my aim is to share my joy of learning with others. Whether your student is preparing to take their first high school test or trying to maximize their score SAT score, I’d be happy to lend my expertise to help them get ahead!

In my free time, I enjoy walks on the beach, video games, and reading science fiction novels.
