Biography

I learned to enjoy the process of learning from a young age. Thanks to my parents’ investments into my education, I was given many opportunities to do so. From attending Chinese school on Sundays to playing on the tennis team to learning how to play multiple instruments, I was always busy doing something when I was young. However, the opportunities that really stuck with me were actually the mentorship and volunteering experiences where I could share with others the privileges and teachings I had received. Through tutoring, working in after-school care, and volunteering with various food rescue organizations, I found that I highly valued the fulfillment of collaborating with others and giving back to the community.

After graduating Cornell University with degrees in environmental engineering and geological sciences, I worked at an environmental consulting firm for about a year and a half. Despite gaining experience on exciting projects, I missed developing strong interpersonal relationships like I had done in the past. Now, I spend my time supporting my students and volunteering in soup kitchens.

At AJ, I enjoy working with students and learning how I can best support them to achieve their dreams, while setting tangible goals for progression. Every student has a different way of processing information, and the 1-on-1 setting at AJ allows me to really get to know students and understand what they need from me. Because of my background in STEM, I enjoy watching students reach that light bulb moment as they learn how to problem solve and apply new techniques and formulas. I also enjoy working with students to support them with their reading and writing skills. I love to see how students craft sentences and put their ideas in their writing, and it is so fulling to see how students to express their creativity and interests.

Some of my hobbies include: spending time with my dog, cooking, playing video games, and reading!
