Biography

I grew up in Los Angeles but moved to the Bay Area for college, where I’ve happily stayed ever since. At UC Berkeley, I created my own interdisciplinary major, blending music, cognitive science, and psychology. I graduated with high honors, a near-perfect GPA, and an award-winning senior thesis. Outside of the classroom, I spent (and spend) my time performing with jazz and rock bands, teaching guitar lessons, backpacking, attending meditation retreats, and writing for the school comedy magazine.

When it comes to college essays, I believe authenticity is key. The best essays come from leaning into what makes you unique and sharing your story in a way that only you can. My goal is to help you craft an honest, compelling, and cohesive narrative that favorably highlights the experiences and qualities that make you who you are. Together, we’ll explore the moments in your life that have been most meaningful and shape them into a story that resonates with admissions committees.

I also have an extensive background in music performance and education, with nearly a decade of professional playing experience and seven years of teaching. As an instructor, I’ve taught independently and through established programs such as UC Berkeley’s UC Jazz mentorship program, I.R. Guitar Studio in Oakland, and ViBo Music School in San Mateo. As a performer, I’ve played at numerous festivals and venues, including Lightning in a Bottle Festival, Freight and Salvage, and Cornerstone.

If you’re interested in pursuing music or the arts in college—whether as a major or an extracurricular—I’d be happy to help you explore those opportunities. I’m well-acquainted with many college music programs and can guide you in finding the right fit to pursue your artistic passions.
