Biography

Something I live by is the saying “For the kids” which I strive for in all my teaching. I have always enjoyed giving my time to others, which led me to teach while leading Girl Scout activities, babysitting, tutoring French, and then assistant teaching in college. I was born and raised in Los Angeles then moved to the Bay in 2020 to start my undergraduate education. I graduated from UC Berkeley in May 2024 with Cognitive Science and Data Science degrees but I have truly stuck with my passion for teaching. I have worked with all ages through summer camps (like Kesem), through Computer Science Academy at Berkeley, as an afterschool program leader for all subject tutoring and robotics in Oakland, and as a math and science teacher.

For the last few years, I have been an instructor at UC Berkeley’s Computer Science Academy for their Pre-College program, where I taught computer science to students at all levels from one of UC Berkeley’s computer science classes. I also was a teaching assistant for the college equivalent during my time at UC Berkeley. At Berkeley, I also became an after-school program leader at multiple Oakland schools where I led students from K through 8, then high school, through engaging activities and academic support (including math and science and SAT/ACT test prep). There, I also ran the robotics programs, as I competed in VEX robotics in my high school years. This led me to briefly teach math and science at a high school as well. These experiences have allowed me to understand how to make learning fun and how to meet students where they are. I strive for students to be able to make their own understanding of the material so they can best learn in the future. I find that the best way to learn is through collaboration and confidence, which I motivate my students to find in themselves. I understand the drive in my students to want to excel and help them through their journey of learning to get to where they want to be.

Some activities I enjoy doing when I can are spending time with my cat Dusty, exploring the Bay Area, doing puzzles, and occasionally playing video games.
