Biography

I was born and raised in Davis, California, and I believe I have been a mathematician at heart for my entire life. From a young age, I found joy in numbers, patterns, and problem-solving, which naturally led me to pursue mathematics with enthusiasm and dedication. After graduating from Davis Senior High School, I continued my academic journey at UC Santa Cruz. There, I had the privilege of competing in NCAA Cross Country and Track and Field, which taught me the value of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork.

While balancing the demands of athletics, I pursued a double major in mathematics and physics. This challenging yet rewarding academic path allowed me to dive deep into the intricacies of both subjects, fostering a profound appreciation for the elegance and complexity of mathematical theories and physical laws. I’ve always loved problem-solving in my fields, whether it involves meticulously working through lines of calculations or devising creative approaches to novel problems.

My passion for mathematics and its applications has been a constant companion throughout my life. This enthusiasm has naturally extended to sharing my knowledge and excitement with others. Whether through organized study sessions, helping classmates with homework, or even delivering impromptu lectures during runs, I’ve always sought to inspire and assist my peers.

My end goal was always to be a teacher, like both my parents. I’m always excited to share my love for mathematics and science while supporting students here at AJ. I strive to foster my students’ creative problem solving skills and show them that these skills are applicable far beyond mathematics, physics, and the classroom. I always hope that my students find the process of piecing together problems from the ground up as engaging and rewarding as I do. If they don’t initially see that, I help support them in finding passion for these amazing subjects.

Aside from my academics, I’ve always been a student-athlete. Recently, I’ve been keeping active by competing in triathlons. I also love the outdoors, and will take every chance I can get to go out for a hike or a backpacking trip. In the winter, when the weather isn’t as accommodating, I spend a lot of time snowboarding.
