Biography

I was born and raised in the Bay Area, where my fascination with the world around me began to take root. From observing tide pool creatures at Natural Bridges Beach to frequent visits to the Happy Hollows Zoo,  and annual trips to the Maker Faire with my Dad, I immersed myself in exploring the wonders of the world. This curiosity fueled my academic journey, leading me to pursue a degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at Cornell University.

Throughout college, I tutored freshman year chemistry, a notorious weed-out course. Through this experience, I became acutely aware of the disparities in educational backgrounds among students. Some struggled due to gaps in their foundational math and science knowledge from high school. Witnessing this underscored the critical importance of a strong K-12 education.

At AJ Tutoring, I empower high school students by equipping them with the essential tools to unlock their full academic potential. My goal as a tutor is not only to foster a love for the sciences but also to cultivate effective study habits. I work to bring out confidence in my students so they can tackle daunting tests. I firmly believe that learning should be enjoyable and fun! My most memorable teachers were those who conveyed their passion for a subject so infectiously that it captivated their students. I aspire to make the sciences less intimidating and more engaging, aiming to create a dynamic learning environment where students thrive. AJ Tutoring’s personalized 1-on-1 format allows me to tailor each session to the individual student, addressing their strengths, weaknesses, and unique learning styles.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy hiking, hammocking, playing frisbee, and indulging in board games.

Happy Parents and Students

"The most helpful part of the tutoring was definitely how knowledgeable my tutor was in the subject she was teaching."
