Summer Reading Lists and the Power of Libraries

Introduction

As a child, I can remember walking into the library for the first time. The smell of the books, the gurgle of the water feature, the hushed voices of the librarians all had a profound impact on me. I had demonstrated enough responsibility to be entrusted with a library card and could select my own books. The summer reading challenges hosted by my local library were the highlight of my summer! And while not every child enjoys reading to that same level, the library is an important rite of passage. Perhaps your child has been given a summer reading list, or you want to find ways to interest them in reading more, the library is a great place to start! Don’t know what books to check out? No problem! Our AJ Team has curated some great recommendations for your students!
