Biography

I come from a family of mathematicians. My mother is a high school math teacher, and my father has a background in chemical engineering. I have always admired my mother’s great example as a teacher as she has a high level of knowledge, she cares about individual students, and she is excellent at teaching to help her students achieve their maximum potential. Because of this, I decided to pursue my bachelor’s degree in education in Australia at Western Sydney University.

Upon completion of my bachelor’s degree, I worked as an educational counselor for students from 3 to 12 years old. I suggested and provided resources and strategies to support schools and community centers in planning, implementing, and monitoring a comprehensive student support program. This helped with students’ social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development. After a few years of educational counseling experience, I pursued a master’s in elementary education.

Later, I moved from Australia to the U.S. in order to gain international teaching experience. I worked as a secondary school classroom math teacher in Southern California, and also obtained a California Single Subject Teaching Credential in mathematics with a Bilingual Authorization in Mandarin.

I love teaching the next generation of students to help them find the beauty of math and the joy of learning it. I help my students better understand complex math concepts by explaining and breaking them down to make them easier to understand. In teaching geometric proofs, I help my students increase their ability to think abstractly, use visuals and given statements, and follow a line of reasoning to a conclusion. In a 1-on-1 learning environment, I can directly address students’ academic needs and learning styles.

Outside of education, I love spending time with my family watching cartoons, hiking, traveling, and cooking.
