Biography

The simple question of “Why?” has perplexed and entranced me for as long as I can remember, fueling my love of learning. As a tutor, I find it extremely rewarding to answer that key question for my students to expand their understanding of the world and our place in it.

Born and raised in Bakersfield, California, I escaped the heat and air to the sunny southern-facing shores of Santa Barbara for my undergraduate degree in chemistry at UCSB. After graduating, I continued my education through a master’s program in materials engineering at SJSU.

Tutoring was core to my success in undergrad, so I view teaching as an opportunity to give back and help others on their academic journey. I worked as a substitute chemistry teacher in Bakersfield, and I learned to explain and equate chemistry concepts to regular life. Now, as a tutor, I’m able to make material that seems unapproachable to many students relevant to their lives by building bridges between the obtuse and confusing concepts and their real-world applications and equivalents.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy scale modeling and continuing my own studies.
