Biography

Born and raised in San Francisco, California, I’ve been passionate about math and physics ever since I was in high school. I was not always the most invested student until 10th grade when I read the book Calculus the EZ Way. Ever since then, I became dedicated to learning as much math and physics as I could, and I pursued the study of both at UC Santa Barbara, graduating with a degree in physics.

After graduating, I began working at a tutoring center where I helped people of all grade ranges with basic math skills as well as with specific courses such as calculus. Doing so showed me how fulfilling tutoring can be as a profession, that everyone is different and their education should be treated as such, and the importance of developing a connection with a student. I’ve been able to help students of a wide range of mindsets and skill levels, and I always aspire to see how I can help everyone on an individual basis.

As a math and physics tutor, I’ve found that it is important to be creative about how I relay complicated concepts to people. I try to determine what level the student is at, then see how I can work up to where they need to be. I build off of related examples that students understand well and use whiteboards during sessions because drawing pictures tends to work wonders at helping students visualize concepts and see why they work, rather than just memorizing formulas they need. I’m obsessed with math, and I love being able to express this when I tutor people!

Outside of tutoring, I’m a fan of visual storytelling such as cartoons, anime and manga, and I love baking, doing math related puzzles like Sudokus and Ken Kens, and working on being physically fit.
