Biography

I’ve learned that there’s nothing more rewarding in life than enjoying the fruits of your labor. Putting in the work to get better at something and seeing yourself improve provides a sense of fulfillment that I grew to love when I started playing golf at the age of ten. Learning to hit a ball, despite how hard it was in the beginning, gave me a feeling of pride and accomplishment that was unmatched. It became quickly apparent that this ideology was something I can apply to not only golf, but everything else in life.

I grew up in San Francisco, California, but I spent four years living in Seoul, South Korea, in my early adolescence. For college, I settled on Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, where I graduated as a student athlete (varsity golf) with a B.S in mechanical engineering. Physics was my favorite subject in high school, and I loved the idea of being able to apply it to make sophisticated machines such as rockets and turbines.

I find helping others improve to be just as rewarding as developing my own skills. I got an early start developing teaching skills giving lessons as a part-time golf instructor. Each client brought their own unique swing and tendencies, so I learned to recognize what to focus on for each individual student. As a 1-on-1 academic tutor, I apply my own experiences to help current students develop the necessary skills to not only excel, but also unlock their best potential. I focus not only on technical knowledge and advice, but also on how to study effectively. Since everyone absorbs knowledge differently, my job is to identify the best teaching methods for them and apply them accordingly.

When I am not tutoring, I am most likely playing or teaching golf, taking photos of the San Francisco streets and landscape, or reading in cafes.
