Biography

I’m a Bay Area native, growing up in the East Bay, and I went on to earn a B.S. in mathematics for teaching from UCLA.

In grade school, I struggled with math and assumed I wasn’t a “math person.” As a result, I had a lot of ground to make up in college, and I used the school’s learning center to catch up. The individualized help from tutors helped me understand the material in a way I had not before, and I went from needing a tutor to being one myself.

From there, my love of teaching grew and motivated me towards my choice of a degree at UCLA that was specifically geared towards secondary education in mathematics. Through a combination of modern educational pedagogy and researched based instructional approaches, I learned how to effectively develop lessons and year-long educational plans.

Fresh out of college, I worked as a one-on-one teacher at Tilden Preparatory School in Albany, CA, supporting students at a variety of levels, from 6th grade math to multivariable calculus. I then transitioned to classroom teaching at Leadership Public Schools in Hayward and taught AP Calculus AB and geometry for three years.

My teaching practice and philosophy is centered around working with and developing students’ study habits, finding tailored instructional strategies, building students’ confidence, and developing a core foundation in the material that will support them throughout their educational journey.

When I’m not teaching or tutoring, I enjoy watching the Golden State Warriors, writing screenplays, acting, watching movies, and making short films.
