Biography

I grew up in San Jose, the heart of Silicon Valley and the booming tech industry. Despite my surroundings, my interests lay instead in history. I thrived in the history department at San Jose State University, taking as many courses as I could (and sometimes more). After graduating with my bachelor’s, it felt only natural to continue on for my master’s, which I completed in two years. During that time, I constantly found myself gravitating towards teaching, and I tutored part-time at SJSU, honing my skills and attempting to help students learn the subject and (hopefully) appreciate it as much as I did.

After graduating with my master’s, I quickly found employment at Evergreen Valley College,  working as an adjunct history instructor. Additionally, I continued to work as a tutor, looking to aid students in challenging subjects and to help cultivate in them a thirst for knowledge and passion for learning.

As a teacher and tutor, I seek to make content easy to understand for students. I also use my own enthusiasm to encourage their own interest in the subject, as I believe that students learn best when they’re engaged and passionate. I always seek to ask students thought provoking questions that challenge their understanding and allow them to develop new perspectives on the material. I aim to guide their learning and help them draw their own conclusions, as I believe these skills prepare them for success throughout their academic journeys.

When I am not tutoring or teaching, I like to read academic books, study history, and cycle. Additionally, I am also an avid amateur astronomer and enjoy taking my home telescope outside and pointing it at various distant objects in the night sky.
