Biography

After spending all of my childhood in Philadelphia, I decided to see more of the world and went to UCLA to pursue my undergraduate degrees. While studying English and history, a chance conversation with a classmate led me to take a job as a tutor at an adolescent treatment center. It was there that I first started teaching and fell in love with education.

For myself, the most important part of being a college counselor and tutor is the ability to help mentor someone else. In my previous role, I interacted with a lot of students at the worst point in their lives, and the opportunity to help guide them towards a better future was one I will always be thankful for. After graduating, I moved up to the Bay Area and pursued a career in college counseling and tutoring. I appreciate the opportunity to share my love of history and language with students and to help as many students as possible achieve their academic dreams on their path to college.

Studying history is my passion. I have an ever-expanding library of histories on my Kindle, and I challenge myself to expand my knowledge daily. However, I understand that many students find the material irrelevant to their lives or uninteresting for a variety of other reasons. This is why I believe that the best counseling and tutoring relationships are founded on mutual respect between the mentor and the student. Because every student learns differently and has different strengths and weaknesses, this foundation allows me to approach each situation by finding the learning and communication style that best suits my clients and building out from there.

In my free time, I enjoy writing, reading, cooking, and running marathons. Still a Philly boy at heart, I take advantage of California’s slightly nicer weather and food options while watching the Eagles disappoint me.
