Biography

After delivering my valedictorian speech in high school, I embarked on a path of higher education, becoming a first-generation college graduate. My experiences impressed upon me the importance of education for unlocking opportunities.

During my undergraduate years at the University of California, Irvine, I gained an interest in peer tutoring and intervention therapy. The encouragement and feedback of my supervisors motivated me to transition from studying mechanical and aerospace engineering to obtaining a Bachelor of Science in psychology, and I took an interest in developmental growth—including aging, adolescence, adult development, and the entire lifespan—and the fundamentals of learning through executive functions that prevail throughout our lives.

Following my graduation, I became an educator and an intervention specialist. I assumed the responsibilities of supervisory management and provided intensive therapy to those with mental health illnesses and disabilities. My duties were to provide peer support and execute learning programs for people of all ages while promoting the principles of education and necessities of life. I composed a variety of plans and programs and had the opportunity to watch how the work I did with students affected their lives at home as well as their academics.

Through these experiences, I developed a deeper interest in education and helping students develop the study skills, critical thinking, and content knowledge that will help them succeed in their academic journeys and beyond. At AJ Tutoring, I enjoy helping students find a passion for the material and develop their confidence in their own ability to learn and overcome challenges. In addition to tutoring high-school math and a variety of K-8 subject areas, I specialize in helping students with study skills and organization.

Outside of teaching, I invest my leisure time in acrylic painting, sculpting mini-projects, vintage collectibles, and crime and medical dramas.
